I have been a commentator on public policy for over 20 years. I am a columnist for the Guardian Healthcare Network and Guardian Local Government Network, contribute to the British Medical Journal and have worked for organisations across health and local government, including the King's Fund, Commission on Dignity in Care for Older People, NHS Confederation, Local Government Association, Hays, and the Future Homes Commission. I am a former editor of both Health Service Journal and Local Government Chronicle, and was head of communications at regulator Ofsted. I am a visiting lecturer at City University Department of Journalism. I won Best Business Freelance in the Medical Journalism Awards 2012 and PPA Business Editor of the Year 2007.
